Topic: The things of the Spirit
Text: Romans 8:5
This season we begin a journey on understanding the things of the Spirit. To understand the things of the Spirit we must first define what Spirit means and the dimensions and our Spirituality. We operate in two worlds the physical(earthly) and the spiritual. Man is a Spirit defined in Hebrew as “ish” meaning spirit in a Earth body(Humus). This makes us Human. Gen 2:7. The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life. Job33:4
Most often the physical is where man is familiar with but for us to function in the fullness of the image of God will must understand the Spiritual realm. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Corinthians 2:14
When we get born again, what happens to us is that our Spirit becomes reconciled to God. It becomes born again and therefore we are born of the Spirit. The Spirit comes alive- Romans 8:2. We are of the Spirit, so we need to have greater understanding of the things of the Spirit.
The things of the spiritual realm can only be discerned by the spirit in the man. It is therefore important to equip ourselves with an understanding of how the spiritual realm works.
For us to engage with God we must begin to align ourselves with the things of the spirit because God is a Spirit and those that must worship him must do so in Spirit and in truth- John 4:24. We can-not receive anything from God if we can’t connect our Spirit to the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God bears witness with our Spirit that’s the connection- The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God

Every Christian must understand that we live in two worlds that are in constant interactions and we see that throughout scriptures and in these two worlds the Spiritual has greater influence in the affairs of the Physical. How we align ourselves with the Spirit of God increases our influence in the spiritual and subsequently affects the physical realm. We must now be awake to righteousness and our nature as spiritual beings and make the spiritual life our routine
