Text: Luke 11:1
Prayer is one of the most preached about, discussed concept in religion and religious circles. There is a desire in man to connect with Divinity and Prayer is the act to actualize it. The Problem is not understanding that prayer is essential for Humanity but How to Pray effectively with great result.
The Disciples saw through the Life of Jesus and his Ministry on earth that the constant was Prayer. The observed closely that Prayer was a mainstay of who he was, not only was it so for Him but also John the Baptist before him. Prayer was not a new concept for the disciples, they were Jews who had rituals and services and times of prayer in the synagogue but the saw that the Prayer Jesus prayed was different, it made a real difference to the conduct of His life and ministry. They saw that prayer was not an activity but a personal communion deep fellowship with God that must be done regularly to walk in the dimension that Jesus did.
The Disciples realized that for them to partake in this ministry they must as well be taught in the School of Prayers, the dimensions and patterns of Prayer. The question was born out of a Hunger and desire for the next Level. A passion to encounter the unique experiences Jesus encountered. That passion for more led to ask in Luke11:1 …”Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
