Text: I Samuel 3:1-7; Mathew 11:27: Luke 24:25-27
Jesus is the central to our Christian faith, As we go the source of our faith this month, I pray for a reconnection with him, I pray for a revelation of himself to us.
“Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, neither was the word of the Lord revealed unto him.”- I Samuel 3: 7
Our text suggests that irrespective of Samuel’s service in the temple and doing the routine, He had not yet known the Lord, which suggest that he had no intimacy with the Lord, He could not recognise his voice, the word of God days my sheep hear my voice, it is borne out of a relationship and a revelation of God to us. He also had not yet had a revelation of the Word.
Now we ask the begging question what was the word, we can only begin from the beginning of Creation. The word of God in John 1 says in the beginning was the word and the Word was with God and the Word was God. So we will be permitted to say that Samuel had not yet encountered He that was from the Beginning.
We See from the book of John that the Word was in the Beginning and that word was Jesus, who was made flesh and dwelt amongst Men.
As we go the beginning in Genesis, We recognise that Jesus revealed, as the word was what the Father said. So when He (Father) began creation He begins to speak the Word- Let there Be….. We can be permitted to infer The Father Spoke Jesus into creation and as the word of God says in Him all things consists-(John 1:3) so in Jesus (The Word) all things were created, So without Jesus the word will not be in existence. And the first thing the Father said was Let there be Light (Genesis 1:3) and John confirm that Jesus is the Light – In him was Life and the life was the Light of Men– John 1:4
As we see man formed in the image of God and then sins against God in the Garden, God the father proclaims against the Serpent that the SEED of the Woman would bruise the head of the Serpent. A prophetic declaration of the Authority of Jesus and the covenant for every SEED of the Woman who accepts Jesus as Authority over their Lives.
As we see parallels in the Old Testament we begin to see that Jesus was all around in the picture and God’s Intent has been to cause man to encounter a deep revelation of Him- The encounter of God and Abraham putting Isaac for Sacrifice depicts what God was about to do about His Begotten Son-Jesus and after 3 days the find the Place of Sacrifice and the response from Abraham to his son Isaac was that God will provide for Himself a Lamb for Sacrifice. That Lamb was Jesus and when the Altar was set instead of Isaac there was a provision of a ram, an Exchange assured for Humanity a Lamb was ready for the Sacrifice, Jesus was already ready for the sacrifice –John 1:29.
Moses wrote of Him- John 5:46, We see it in the serpent lifted up in the wilderness on a rod so Jesus is lifted up and any one that gazes on the serpent lived so we also live and are saved through totally dependent and looking unto Jesus the Author and finisher of our faith
The encounter of the Children of Israel exodus from Egypt we See the Lamb being sacrificed and by the blood of the Lamb destruction is removed from Israel- Israel is saved, Deliverance come to her, By the Blood of Jesus we are saved from Destruction into the Kingdom of Light
Jesus has always been from the beginning and God has been seeking that Man will come to the place where HE can reveal himself fully to us and therefore Jesus came and dwelt amongst men so we can behold him. You may still be skeptical about who Jesus is, He is God- John 1:1 and he seeks to know us intimately, to know His ways and for Him to lead our Lives as we commit to him
Prayer
- Lord may I encounter you Uniquely this month
