Portrait Of A Blessed Life

Portrait Of A Blessed Life

Scripture Reading: Psalm 1:1-3

This Study is taking a snap shot at what the profile of a blessed man is. It is remarkable that the first book in Psalms starts with a profile and pattern that God sees in a Blessed life. The Scriptures unravels three situations that occur in the first profile of a blessed life.

The Word Blessed translates the Hebrew word “esher,” which means happiness or contentment. Esher comes from the Hebrew word “ashar”, which in its root means “to be straight” or “to be right.” Blessed is the man speaks of the happiness, the blessedness, the contentment in the life of the man or woman who is right or “straight” with God.

Three Stages for a Blessed Life

  1. Holy & Righteous living
  2. Encounter with the Word of God
  3. Being Planted

 HOLY AND RIGHTEOUS LIVING

A Blessed man must not

  1. Walk in the counsel of the ungodly
  2. Stand in the way of sinners
  3. Sit in the seat of scoffers

We see here that blessed man is associated with living Holy and righteous in all dealings, speaking and doings. The blessed man does not do certain things. There is a counsel he will not walk or dictate his life pursuits in, a path he will not stand in, and a seat he will not sit in. These three aspects of our holy living speak of our thinking, behaving, and belonging.

Walk in the counsel of the ungodly

As a man thinks so he is, what counsel we build our lives on should be godly counsels for living right. The righteous man and the ungodly man are different in how they think, how they behave, and to whom they belong.

We must continually examine all the advice that comes our way, from so many different sources and philosophies of men and seek to make sure they align with the word of God, Our counsel for living should be based on what God says about us in terms of our purpose and destiny. The righteous man knows how to stay away from the counsel of the ungodly.

The righteous man must discern the counsel of the ungodly. Always ask the question “Is this godly or ungodly counsel”.? Also, our own conscience, our own mind, our own heart, can give us ungodly counsel so we must discern through the help of the Holy Spirit. God’s Word is always the best counselor, and godly counselors will always bring the truth of God’s Word in times of direction and need.

Stand in the way of sinners

The righteous man must understand his path way, the direction he takes in life. Every direction in life takes you to a destination, therefore its critical to understand “the way”. The Bible says there is a way that seems right unto a man but it leads to destruction. That is the way of sinners. The righteous way is a road less traveled but it brings Joy, blessings and eternal life. The Blessed life must trust God’s counsel to lead in the path but more critical the scripture put that responsible upon us to make sure we choose the path of righteousness. Be careful not to make decision that brings you on a path that leads to sin, evil doing and unrighteous living.

Sit in the seat of scoffers

It is about being careful with your association. A seat is a place of dwelling, Our duty is to seek to glorify God of His wondrous works, The Bible admonishes us that the Carnal mind can’t understand the things of the Spirit. We must continually watch that our do not take the things of God in vain. We must be Bold about our proclamation for the Lord as followers and disciples of Jesus. We must not participate in putting down the things of God as the world does but learn to elevate the light of God wherever we find our selves.

These are the foundation that must be established to experience a blessed life.
